Photo Shoot in Downtown Phoenix
This past weekend, we had a photoshoot for 32 Flavors in Downtown Phoenix on top of one of the parking garages. It was an amazingly beautiful day- not a cloud in the sky, the perfect temperature, and slight breeze coming from the north. Dan Perrine shot the images. We basically just wanted to get out, experiment, and do something fun. We went in with no set expectations, and had a great time- despite the fact that the bottoms of our feet were charcoal black by the end of it. Here are just a few pics that I grabbed quickly so you can see.
The Worm
On Friday night- Your Mom had a very successful evening. We won both of our games against Drinkin’ Team with a Kickball Problem and the Ball Crushers. In the second game against the Ball Crushers, one of their players seemingly dislocated his shoulder while diving for a ball and was escorted painfully off of the field. This made me feel slightly sorry about kicking their butts so badly- I believe the score was something like 11-0…not really sure- I stopped counting. Between our two games, I decided to do a celebratory worm. Ron from the Ball Maulers captured this moment gracefully on his mobile and was so kind to text it to me that evening.
On another note- what’s up with the mysterious members of the Big Red Chuggers who never seem to join in any kickball fun after the games?…
Mark your calendars!
For all you readers/supporters… I just want to inform you in advance that my Dance Company, 32 Flavors, will be holding our end of the season concert on May 30th, 2008 at 8pm. So mark your dates- and save your $15-$20 bucks for an evening of fun! The show is being held at Theater 4301 in Scottsdale which is actually an old I-Max theater which was converted into a space for live theatre. It is in the heart of old town Scottsdale with plenty of places to either grab dinner/ a drink before or after the show. After the show we are also having a “Post-show Party” at Mickey’s Hangover. A cool place to sit on vintage couches and grub on some yummy apps. The season has been so wonderful and we want to make sure to end it with a bang!
One Click Choreography | Graffiti Style
Last year, I started a concept which I like to refer to as “One Click Choreography”. One Click Choreography (OCC) is my new approach to choreography via online mediums such as websites, email, social networking, etc. The first OCC piece that I created was called Hardware which was presented at the Mesa Arts Center as well as one of 32 Flavors’ Black Box Shows. Hardware was compiled using data received from an email form where participants were to choose a human bone part from a list and submit the email. From the email I had a data set that I could work off of to influence the piece (Name, subject of email, chosen bone part, time email was transmitted, etc.) I took these elements and utilized two dancers to translate movement into their bodies. The first project was very fulfilling with around 30 people participating, and ever since I have been pondering my next fun project in the OCC series.
What is the next project…? Well, utilizing Facebook’s Graffiti Application, I invite anyone and everyone to continue the dance under my Graffiti Box in my Facebook Profile. Feel free to add dancers, take away dancers, draw them doing impossible things, very pedestrian things. Make the dancers appear close to the audience or far far away- the sequence of events is up to you! Once I have received a sufficient amount of data, I will actually mold this into a fully produced piece that 32 Flavors will be performing next season. Enough talk- put your mice to use!
Me in a very unique Tutu
Here are some pics from me @ the Audio Ballerinas Rehearsal last night. If you want to come see me and some other dancers from 32 Flavors sport this gear, check out the Scottsdale Arts Festival this weekend March 7th-9th.
There was also some news coverage of us rehearsing which you can check out here: This is not your mother’s ballet

This Saturday | 32 Flavors and Flux Dance Project
This Saturday March 1, 2008 at 9pm my dance company, 32 Flavors, will be doing a show with guest Flux Dance Project. I am excited for the show because we will not only be showing choreographed works but 32 Flavors will open the show with an improvisational piece and the show will end with a improvisational collaboration between us and Flux. Sometimes the most amazing works come out of moments where you must listen to those that you are dancing with and you don’t have any preconceived knowledge of the result. I am also very excited to be premiering my new solo work, Hung up, which is choreographed to a repetition of Sufjan Stevens’ Dress Looks Nice On You. If you’re interested in checking it out, more info about tickets, directions, etc.can be found here:
